Pierson's features Eastern Iowa's largest selection of tropical houseplants. We feature exotic blooming orchids, tropical interior plants and blooming plants. We specialize in interior plantscaping for corporate offices as well as residential clients. Many of Cedar Rapids leading corporations use Pierson's as their florist and plantscape company. Plants such as boston ferns, weeping figs, peace lilies, palmtrees, corn plants, schefflera and english ivy are available in many sizes from one foot tall table top plants to ten foot tall mall sized trees, exotic blooming orchids like phalaenopsis, dendrobium, cattleya, oncidium, vanda and more are in bloom at various times during the year. Pierson's always has blooming orchids available. Other exotic blooming tropical plants such as bromeliads, gardenias and anthurium are also available in our greenhouses. Pierson's Flower Shop History Pierson's Flower Shops and Greenhouses was founded in 1928 by Roland and Ruth Pierson. Robert (Roland and Ruth's son) and Nancy Pierson joined the business in 1954 with their sons, Rollie and Allan joining the business in the 1970's. The business was started in 1928 at the Ellis Blvd. location and now includes our second location on Blairs Ferry .Rd. N.E. The Pierson family has long been active in floral industry affairs. Robert, Rollie and Allan have all served as President of the Society of Iowa Florists, as well as FTD district officers. Our main store was started in 1928 on what was then the outskirts of town, near Ellis Park on the Cedar River. This location features a 3,000 square foot showroom, a 12,000 square foot greenhouse, offices and a large outdoor sales yard for perennials, trees, shrubs, evergreens and rosebushes. This location has been remodeled many times over its 82-year history, with the biggest remodel coming after this store was flooded with 8' of Cedar River flood waters. This N.W. Cedar Rapids location is just minutes from downtown and from the Aegon River Ridge office park. Our second store is located on the N.E. side of town and features a 3000 square foot showroom, a state of the art 800 square foot walk in floral cooler. This modern store is just off I-380 and just minutes from Rockwell International and downtown Cedar Rapids. Our Floral Designers Pierson's floral designers have won numerous awards in Society of Iowa Florists design contests. Our design staff consists of over 7 designers at our two stores with a combined experience of over 100 Years! Our professional design staff will tailor a special floral arrangement just for you.
